Online toolbox launched by the SCC

13 November in UK

The Surveillance Camera Commissioner (‘SCC’) launched, on 13 November 2018, an online toolbox to assist organisations to comply with the Surveillance Camera Code of Practice and follow best practice and legal requirements (‘the Toolbox’). The Toolbox comprises four tools, including, a buyer’s toolkit, which provides guidance for non-expert small and medium enterprises that wish to invest in surveillance cameras; the passport to compliance, providing guidance for large public space surveillance camera systems, such as town centre schemes operated by local authorities; the self assessment tool, which can be used for CCTV, automatic number plate recognition, body worn video, drones, and automatic facial recognition camera compliance, and finally, the data protection impact assessment (‘DPIA’) template.
